Common Questions About Your Senior Portraits
What is “Senior Portraits” and should I take them?
As the upper classman in your high school, the senior portrait section of the yearbook is the most important. You have made it through 12 years of education, and your school would like to recognize your graduating class in the yearbook.
Your Portraits are taken in a professional studio which helps provide you with higher quality images. Unlike "school day" photos you use to take during your registration at the beginning of the school year. Our Staff and senior photographers will help you create those special images of you, for your yearbook and personal portrait collections. There are many choices of backgrounds for you to choose in addition to your yearbook image. From all these images, you can order your portraits for family and friends.
What do I need to do for the yearbook image?
Please review all the information sent home to you with your appointment and if you have any questions you can visit our senior tips page or give us a call! Some schools have very specific dress requirements so it will enable the yearbook to achieve consistent quality in printing. Be ready for your image session. Please check out our suggestions about clothing, hair and make-up in the “Senior Tips” section of this website.
What do I do if I have a ‘bad hair day’, or got sunburned or am ill? Should I reschedule?
YES! When you are not feeling well, it shows. Sunburned skin CANNOT be retouched or evened out naturally. We cannot create the hair you want either, so it is best not to try a first time hair-do.
What if my face breaks out?
Your yearbook image will be retouched at no additional cost regardless if an order is placed. Remember, your proofs are not retouched or color balanced
If I reschedule my appointment, will I miss the yearbook deadline?
Not necessarily, but there are limited appointments available, so DO NOT wait until the last minute. Please look out for the make-up dates provided.
If I can’t get the money together, what do I do?
Call the studio. Depending upon deadlines, financial arrangements can be worked out. You do not want to miss the yearbook deadline.
After I take my images, what happens?
You will have an opportunity to select your yearbook image on site to assure us you are happy with pose that is chosen. We will then mail home all proofs with ordering details included. Ordering your senior portraits can be done anytime during the school year and a deadline will be given to guarantee delivery before the holidays. Please allow enough time for us to complete your portraits for senior pages or grad announcements. If you have any concerns, please feel free to call our staff for assistance.
How do I order my senior portraits?
We welcome you to stop by the studio during regular business hours for personal assistance or you may mail, phone or order online. All your images are numbered to make this process fairly simple. Select your favorite images and what you would like to have printed on them. Then pick a package to suit your needs. If you don’t see a particular package that works for you, perhaps we have another solution. Please call. We accept cash, personal checks or Major Credit Cards.
What happens when I tell you what I want?
We will begin production on your personal order as soon as your order has been received. Normal production is approximately 4-8 weeks, depending on the time of year. During our busier yearbook deadline season, it can take longer. So we suggest to order your portrait package early in order to meet senior page, college applications, grad announcement and other deadlines that you need your senior images for. When your order is complete, we will notify you or ship depending on arrangements made.
